Susan, John -together with their mutual friend Janet Nicholson , who is also a fine artist, visited Amsterdam together and explored its streets on foot.
It is a beguiling City in which the trio felt immediately at ease, the streets, safe to walk, even at night; The Central Station area being avoided on all but one occasion.
 
The subject of this Gouache  is the junction between Spiegel gracht and Prinsen gracht, a charming  area with artists studios and small private picture galleries, such as Gallerie Hoopman on one side, and fascinating antique shops on the other.
