Paintings of People inspired by unspoken language
Watercolours by John Ridyard Artist / Illustrator / Publisher

Paintings that explore an interplay between imagination and reality. Blue and pink at the Lowry Centre, Salford Quays

At the Lowry

Watercolour.  48.6cm x 39.0cm.   Summer  2004
The location  is the Lowry Centre at Salford Quays. I was really excited by the place, not just because of the Lowry exhibits but for this exhibition space that seems to overhang the water.
I found the reflections from outside the building that intruded in the form of reflections in the glazed paintings and draws stimulating and it gave me the idea of bringing the reflection of the Lowry centre in the Quay West building into my paintings.
In this painting the young woman has been enchanted by an exhibit, one invisible to us, but one which has - if we are to judge by her body language - transformed her back to a child.

'telephonica' John's three part painting of an unheard telephone conversation.
