One of Susan's works using silk
A work in progress on Cotton fabric using fabric dye and silk threads
Hundreds of stitches go to making one of these works of art, the silk threads shining in the light.
A silk painting by Susan Ridyard, showing a work in progress, with fabric dye with salt effect - as used in watercolour - to achieve a matrix, into which susan can weave her magic with the silk threads.

These unusual works by Susan are made using fine cotton as a support;  fabric dye for the under painting and silk threads for the detailing.
She uses various stitches depending on the effect required

This work shown is only part done, to show the method and the way the light catches the three dimensional surface.

There will be some finished ones for you to see soon.
