Works on Cotton fabric using dye and silk threads
Hundreds of stitches go to making one of these works of art, the silk threads shining in the light.
A silk painting by Susan Ridyard, showing a work in progress, with fabric dye with salt effect - as used in watercolour - to achieve a matrix, into which susan can weave her magic with the silk threads.
These works are made using cotton as a support, fabric dye as under paint and silk thread for detail.

These silk threads are applied using various stitches depending on the effect required

This one is only part done, but shows the way the light catches the colours in the three dimensional surface and makes them sparkle.

There will be some finished ones for you to see soon.
